- PhotoSatin Premium RC 270 gsm (Semi-matte) by Canson
A satin semi-matte resin-coated media of 270gsm with a classic photographic surface aesthetic. It has a structured polyethylene coating and microporous receiver layer giving it a high degree of water resistance. The paper is alpha-celluose acid-free art paper and is fade-resistant to give maximum conservation of your image.
This paper gives softened reflections on photographs. It is a great choice for black & white and colour photography.
We would highly recommend this as an everyday paper both for low-cost albums or low-value framing. The surface is resilient to handling and the semi-matte effect works well under glass.
- PhotoGlossPremium RC 270 gsm (High-gloss)
A high Gloss media (a cousin of PhotoSatin Premum above but with an enhanced coating offering a stunning gloss effect finish).
This is an instant dry resin coated paper microporous receiver layer giving it a high degree of water and fade resistance. An exceptionally low colour error, high Dmax and wide colour colour gamut produces nice clear sharp colour and B&W images.
- Ultra Pearl 295 gsm
This is a bright white media with a pronounced pearl microporous finish. This makes it stand out somewhat in the market as the surface effect is strong and, if you like pearls and satins, attractive. It has the added advantage of increased toughness due to the application of an Image Protection Layer which confers considerable scuff and scratch resistance.
It is a bright punchy paper. Colour vibrancy and sharpness is remarkable on its ultra white base. The toughness of the finish will be attractive for album-making and also for the enthusiasts whose prints can take a fair amount of wear and tear as they go about from exhibition to exhibition.
For those doing commercial work it has the advantage of having anti-scan properties. The special enhanced Pearl texture has been formulated to make images extremely difficult to scan and so image copyright can be retained.

- Hahnemühle Bamboo 290gsm
In China, people have been making paper from bamboo fibers for more than 1500 years. In Germany, the Hahnemuhle paper mill has been producing art papers for 420 years.
Now, Hahnemuhle is using ultra-pure fibers from bamboo grass and spring water to create a premium, soft fine-art paper for digital printing.
Many printmakers will appreciate that bamboo is a more renewable resource than trees. Bamboo, which is actually a tropical grass, grows to maturity in about four years, compared to the 25 to 70 years required for most commercial tree species in the US. About 25% of the plant can be pruned annually over its life span, meaning that bamboo can provide 4 to 5 times the usable biomass of the fastest-growing commercial trees.
Hahnemuhle plans to donate a portion of the proceeds from the sale of Bamboo 290 to environmental projects chosen with input from customers.
Bamboo is the world’s first digital fine art paper made from bamboo fibers. Bamboo represents spirituality, naturalness and resource-saving paper production. Particularly suitable for warm-toned color and monochrome prints, Bamboo really highlights the sensuality of images.
In addition to its classy feel and elegant appearance, “Bamboo 290” possesses the image quality associated with Hahnemuhle, achieved through its wide color gamut, extreme color density and sharpness as well as good contrast. The paper’s natural basic tone makes it ideal for fine art prints with a warm hue.
- Hahnemühle Photo Rag Baryta 315gsm
Hahnemuhle Photo Rag Baryta produces luminous images as well high top-quality black and white printing and the final results of the images are highly saturated and pop out at the viewer. Before the image the photographer will want to touch and feel the paper, after the image is applied to the paper the photographer will emotionally feel as if he or she wants to touch the image. The three-dimensional depth causes the images to come alive.
Hahnemuhle Photo Rag Baryta feels like a mixture of soft cotton paper and traditional baryta board that contains barium sulfate. Although in the 'gloss' family, Hahnemuhle Photo Rag Baryta is not super smooth, the surface of the paper has a very fine texture with a beautiful gloss finish. Hahnemühle Photo Rag Baryta has enough gloss to make it perfectly balanced for high contrast prints with extended blacks and shadows, yet avoids the problems associated with too much gloss.
Photo Rag Baryta combines the virtues of a luxury cotton paper and a traditional baryta board. The very fine surface texture with the baryta gloss endows portraits with a particularly expressive character. The surface has everything it needs, not too glossy, not too plastic looking, not too flat, just enough stipple to make it look like darkroom fibre base, in short it is all just right.
- Canson-Infinity BARYTA Photographique
Canson has been making paper since the time of Michelangelo. Some of the most beautiful art papers ever made made have been sold under their Arches label. They have supplied famous artists such as, Picasso, Chagal, Warhol, Ingres, Miro and Alechinsky. Irving Penn made his platinum prints on an Arches base paper. You cannot buy a heritage like that.
BARYTA Photographique offers the look and aesthetic of the original darkroom baryta print and complies with the ISO 9706 standard for maximum longevity.
Baryta is a clay-like substance long used as a coating in high-end B&W traditional chemical darkroom papers, intended to enhance whiteness without the use of optical brightening agents.
This is a smooth surface paper, and when looked at obliquely one can't see any "surface". But, when there is ink on it, especially blacks and dark tones, there is what looks like a micro-stipple similar to traditional Baryta photochemical papers.
This museum grade photo paper shows excellent black density and great image sharpness. There is a brilliance to the paper – depth of saturation which makes it ideal for black and white as well as colour photography.
